To better serve our clients with their most challenging technical problems, Lithe Technology has added a new metrology capability to our laboratory. We recently purchased and installed a GPS master clock. With this system, Lithe has a precision time and frequency reference that is traceable to the NIST and USNO time standard via the GPS satellite network. For best performance, we installed a roof-mounted omnidirectional antenna that provides clear coverage of the sky. The antenna placement has consistently allowed tracking of between 7 and 11 GPS satellites. This translates into a high-quality synchronization/syntonization lock and excellent timing performance. On a practical level, the Lithe electronic laboratory has the following signals available for testing and as a reference for precision time and frequency measurement:
- 1 PPS within ±50 nanoseconds of UTC.
- 10 MHz precision reference with accuracy of ±1 mHz.
- IRIG B/E with precision of ±20 usec.
